Unfinished-Limerick Contest #44 Winner Revealed After Long Wait! Unfinished-Limerick Contest 45 Also Announced!

Atlanta, GA . . . In a prepared statement to an eager press corps of some 200 journalists, Lillie Harley Patch announced both the winner of  the 44th Unfinished-Limerick Contest, the prestigious McguireHimself.com poetry contest that has readers and contestants world-wide, and the four lines for the 45th Unfinished-Limerick Contest.

Ms. Patch explained that the winning limerick unintentionally spoke to  a change that is about to occur in forthcoming limerick contests on McGuireHimself.com.

The Committee (aka The Unfinished-Limerick Committee, which is comprised of at least three employees of McGuireHimself.com and two dead poets–often Samuel Taylor Coleridge–who are reached through means never revealed by members of the Committee or by anyone involved in the McGuireHimself.com inner culture) chose Atlanta, Georgia, as the place to hold the announcement of the change because Atlanta has one of the largest sprocket distributors in the world.

Ms. Patch went on to point out that May 20 is National Sprocket Day. Aping the slogan of the national sprocket Society, she added “Get in gear!”

“Sprockets are important,” Ms Patch said, “as devices of change and improvement. sprockets take one unit of energy and move it and enlarge it. And that’s what McGuireHimself.com is doing today, National Sprocket Day.”

“From here forward until the committee decides otherwise, weekly Unfinished Limericks will be about celebrities.”

Then without further transition, Ms. Patch announced the winner of the 44th Contest and gave a rendition of the full poem. While she read, a man amid the pool of journalists distributed the following photograph of a still from Charlie Chaplin’s Modern Times and the winning poem

Allusion to the celebrated comedian’s use of sprockets and the fact that the winning limerick writer made use of a celebrity in the limerick, explained Ms. Patch, made today and this contest  the perfect moment to transition the Unfinished-Limerick contest toward a new and improved energy.

Ms. Patch released the lines of the new contest, also with a photo.
